Pinoy English

Perhaps one of the best traits we Filipinos have is our sense of humor. Filipinos can find humor even in the most serious of situations. I guess that is why despite our country being poor and all, we manage to somehow be a happy people. I mean where else in the world can you find people who can laugh at themselves even through hunger, poverty and hardships?Free Userbars Only in the Philippines.Free Avatars

Of course, there are still some people who are so uptight and frown at the littlest of things, but it's great that they aren't that many. Anyway, I wanted to share this video made by a Canadian born Filipino. I was literally laughing my ass off when I was watching this video.Happy Emoticons Check it out!

It's funny because it's true.Happy Emoticons

It will probably sound insulting to some people (people who have no sense of humor and people who have sticks up their ass). LOL.Free Icons I love it because it's funny and it's a Filipino trademark, I think it's pretty awesome how we are gaining so much popularity because of it. Even Ellen DeGeneres loves the Filipino accent. Who wouldn't, it is so adorable! LOL.Free Icons

You know how much I love Ellen DeGeneres right?Free Icons Yes, she loves Filipinos too, she discovered Charice Pempengco and has given praise to Arnel Pineda and now Maria Aragon. She even said that the most talented singers are from the Philippines. She is so awesome. I watch her show religiously and I love that Mindy is back. For those of you who don't know Mindy (you should watch The Ellen DeGeneres Show more often!), she is Ellen's housekeeper and she is a Filipina. In the show's new segment, Ellen gives her a minute to give reviews about movies and stuff. Check out the latest from Mindy!

I am proud to be Pinoy! In the words of Mikey Bustos, "See you later heavy weighter and Pacquiao por Layf!". LMAO!Happy Emoticons

Manny Pacquiao VS Joshua Clottey*

That is by far the most boring fight Manny Pacquiao has ever had so far! I mean what's the deal with Joshua Clottey and not taking punches? Is he that afraid to get hit? Why the hell would you go into boxing then? All Joshua Clottey did the whole fight was try and avoid Manny Pacquiao's punches. At first I thought he was maybe testing the waters and trying to figure out how long Manny Pacquiao would last but then after a while I lost interest. It was the most boring boxing match ever! Needless to say, I am so disappointed, this is not how I imagined the fight would be, I can just imagine how frustrated Manny Pacquiao felt while he was trying to get Clottey to reciprocate his energy but didn't. Fights like these are what keeps people like me, people who really don't like sports, not like sports at all, I mean come on, give us some excitement. I don't know about you, but I wanted to see someone get hit in the face real bad with blood and all and then see someone get K.O.-ed, morbid perhaps, but hey, it is boxing, but noooo, what did I see, 1 man trying to catch a guy so he can punch him and a guy who keeps running away, it was like 2 people dancing awkwardly with one another. It sucked.

I really really wish Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s camp changes their mind and decides to push the fight with Manny Pacquiao. I bet it won't be as boring as this one.

Okay, so please no one murder me for this post, this is just what I thought of it, and I am no expert in any way, this is just my opinion and I don't mean to offend anyone.

Anticipated Fight of the Year: Manny Pacquiao VS. Floyd Mayweather

The boxing world is buzzing with anticipation as everyone waits for March 13, 2010, the supposed date for what is supposed to be the greatest fight between 2 high profile boxers, Floyd Mayweather, Jr and our country's very own Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr has had 40 fights, 25 of which is by KO and he is undefeated. He has won 6 world boxing championships in 5 different weight classes and in he was ranked #1 as the world's pound for pound fighter in 2008 by The Ring, an American boxing magazine. Now he is ranked #2, next to Manny Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao on the other hand has had 55 fights, of which he won 50, 38 by KO, he lost 3 times and has 2 draws. He is the first boxer to win 7 world titles in 7 different weight divisions.

Both have undeniably good track records, but who will win this fight? I personally want Manny Pacquiao to win of course, I don't like Floyd Mayweather, Jr because he felt he needed to say bad things about Manny Pacquiao to try and intimidate him. I say do your talking inside the ring and let's see who's the best fighter, it'll take a lot more than rumors about performance enhancing drugs to intimidate Manny Pacquiao, he's not just a boxer, he's also a local celebrity in our country, and thus he knows how to handle rumors well.

So anyway, I would love to go to Las Vegas and see the fight, it would definitely be more exciting than watching it on tv, but you can bet that I won't be buying Floyd Mayweather Jr. tickets, I am team Pacquiao all the way baby!sengihnampakgigi

Our country can't help but feel proud of Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao's victory this weekend. How cool is it that he is the only person to ever win all 7 titles in boxing, and he's a Filipino, which makes us all gush with pride. So anyway, for today's Music Monday, I chose this song by the Queen, because I feel that's how our country feels with Pacman's victory and all. Cheers to you Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao!

Manny Pacquaio Wins over Miguel Cotto!*

I am thrilled that once again Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao won the boxing match against Miguel Cotto. menari

I am not really a sports fan, more so a boxing fan, but B had to work today and although he's going to hear about the fight from other people, I wanted to watch for him so I can give him the whole account of how the fight went down.

The La Divas, a local girl group, sang the Philippines' National Anthem. I think they did an okay job, except that maybe at the very end, they held a note far too long than necessary, but that's just me.

Anyway, it's so cool that Manny Pacquiao makes his entrance with the song "Eye of the Tiger" (from the movie Rocky) playing in the background, and he had this big smile on his face. It looked to me like he oozed a lot of confidence, and from there you know that it'll be a good match.

So, on Round 1 it looked like he lost that round to Cotto because Cotto managed to hit Pacquiao with a few speed jabs, but then again, maybe Pacquiao was in the process of gauging how Cotto fights. Round 3 and 4, Pacquiao managed to hit Cotto hard enough to make him kinda fall. Cotto wasn't knocked unconscious or anything but in the boxing world, you touch the ground with your glove and it's considered a knock down or something like that. After that second fall, it seems like Cotto is doing his best to avoid Pacquiao's power punches and kinda just backs up and jumps around until the bell rings, it looks like he was stalling or something. They reach until Round 12. It was declared that Pacquiao won by TKO. Yay for Pacquiao!tepuktangan

Whenever Manny Pacquiao has a fight, the crime rate in our country goes down and it's as if our whole country stops to watch and support him. Men of different opinions actually sit together and watch Manny Pacquiao's fight. Talk about one man uniting his country.

Yay to you Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao! You make your country proud!
