Sattelite TV Deal V.S Cable TV Deal

I am really tired of our local cable operator!

Almost all the movie channels show the most ancient of movies, I mean it is fun to watch re-runs of movies once in a while, but nothing beats watching new movies. I am also tired of all the non-English foreign channels, I am not Korean, Indian, Chinese or Japanese and yet we have like 10 channels of each, I don't understand the language and they don't have subtitles, so I don't watch those channels, but I pay for those channels because it comes with the package. I don't mind having foreign channels as long as I understand the language, like more English and Spanish channels would be fine, and some Italian and French would be good. I can't speak Italian or French, but those are 2 of the sexiest languages ever, so I don't mind listening to it. I mean I just want to be able to get what I pay for, I don't want to pay extra for channels that I never get to watch. That is just so unfair. This is why I am contemplating on going Dish. There is only one satellite tv provider in our area and from what I hear of it, it sounds like its Satellite TV Deals are a steal.

I am told that I can actually choose the channels that I want and dump the ones that I don't want, that way I only pay for the channels that I choose to have. That sounds awesome and that is exactly what I need. Another perk I am made aware of is the ability to have multiple tv's free for 3 months, without the messy wires. I don't like clutter and if it's wireless then I am all for it. Not only that, I can get a DVR for free upon sign up, which means I don't have to miss any shows ever again because I can have the DVR record it whenever it airs and I can't watch it. That is just so totally wicked!

I guess I might really make a switch this weekend, I can't wait.

The TV is Busted!

Yes,you've read it right, our tv in our living room finally gave out, and it went out with a bang! In my grandma's house, where I spend some weekends with the kids, now occupied by my uncle and his family, and my sister, every room has a television, except the bathroom, but I'm told soon they might put one in there too! LOL Here at home where B and I reside, there are only 2 televisions, 1 in our living room/family room and one in Chakai's room. The one in Chakai's room is fairly new and have only gotten it when she turned 5. The one in our living room is around 35 years old. Believe it or not, it is even older than I am! It belonged to B's parents, you can say he kinda grew up with that thing, well, it finally gave out. It started a couple of weeks ago when its picture quality started to get blurry and we thought it had something to do with the cable company, and I remember asking B to switch to DIRECTV Service, because problems like these don't happen to DIRECTV subscribers, but then it wasn't the cable company's fault after all, it was the tv's way of telling us he's dying and that we should probably get a new one. Now, we are in the market for a new tv, and I am currently browsing through the available satellite tv networks, and I want to know exactly what satellite tv provide and if it is worth the money they ask us to pay. Do you have any tips on what company to go with? Is satellite tv better than cable? I'd love to hear what you have to say.

My Missing DVD's

It's past 1 a.m. and I am still awake, I have a nagging headache and I can't fall asleep. Lucas and B are fast asleep and softly snoring beside me, I have my lappy on my lap and was prepared to watch some DVD's when I realized my DVD's were missing! B and I bought DVD's this past weekend, I bought the series 2 of Gossip Girl and the season 4 of House and was planning to watch some to help me fall asleep. It's times like these when I wish we had a satellite dish instead of cable tv, because nothing seems to be on at this hour on any of the channels available on our cable. We have 125 channels and there's nothing good to watch. I am so browsing through dish network packages and convince B in the morning to ditch our cable provider and switch to a dish network instead. Any of you folks know the downside to having a dish network? Well, I am told that weather conditions may affect the down time and the signal for the dish's network, but then again, weather conditions can also screw up cable connections anyway. One of the reasons I bought a Gossip Girl DVD was because we are like a few episodes behind, the network that carries the series airs the episodes late, and I don't like that, I want to be up to date with what I'm watching and it frustrates me that these networks prolong my wait time. My grandma has dish network instead of cable in her house in Azusa, and she says she loves it, at $12.99 per month, she says it's worth every penny. She gets to watch tv until her heart's content, that is how tv viewing should be, not like here, at 12 midnight, all the channels are on static mode, only a select few still run programs but then again, they run programs nobody wants to watch. I have to convince B to switch to dish, but for now, let me go and find those darn DVD's...
