Why Is Reality TV Entertaining?

Have you ever wondered why people love reality tv shows? I am one of those people who love watching reality shows. I must admit, I watch it because I find people fascinating, they don't have to be real famous, but then if they are, hey, that's extra credit. LOL. I mean, people are really interesting. Just when you think you know a person, they throw you off track and do something completely unexpected, I guess that's why I love reality shows, you never know what to expect from them.

Reality shows are supposedly shows that are un-scripted and are supposedly un-edited, so that it will give off that "natural" vibe which is why it's called reality tv. However, some shows that claim to have this specific genre, sometimes make it seem too real to be real, which draws the conclusion that it was scripted.

One reality show that I think was not real at all was Jerry Springer. I know it's not real, I just don't have proof. I mean come on, some people can be sick and deceitful, but things that are aired on Jerry Springer seem too far out even for the really weird and sick. Things as extreme as those situations aired on Jerry Springer seem to be just that, extreme and not at all real. I don't know about you, but I'd like to think that people aren't that bad and that all people have some kind of a set of moral boundaries that I'd like to think they would never cross. So why did I watch Jerry Springer religiously? It may not be real real, but it's still pretty entertaining.

There are over a hundred reality shows on tv right now, and does one need to wonder why they are such hits? People love the drama. Recently, I found myself hooked on watching Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, and I don't even like Tori Spelling or Dean McDermott! I guess it's just fun to watch people live their lives, famous people especially, because then we see that they aren't that different from ordinary people after all.

I will not be surprised if Tiger Woods will get his own reality show in the future, after all, a pro golfer who is recovering sex addict and who is trying to get his life back is a theme that will most probably grab the attention of folks like me who thrive on people's misery. Wahahahaha (evil laugh). LOL.

I love cooking reality shows like Project Runway, Top Chef, Iron Chef America and Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. I especially love Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Gordon Ramsay can be fierce and tactless, but then that's what you love about him, you just can't wait for him to curse and scream at someone. LOL.

I haven't seen American Idol lately, and the last Season I watched was the one with David Cook. I so love him. I want to see the current season now because Ellen DeGeneres is the newest judge and I just love her!

Do you like reality tv shows too?
