ANEticipating Movie: Avatar, The Last Airbender: The Legend of Aang, The Movie*

If you have been an avid reader of my blogs, then by now you probably know how much I love Avatar, The Last Airbender: The Legend of Aang. I think that it is the best cartoon in today's generation, the story line is exceptional, the characters are enchanting and the setting of the story is simply magical. It's also a cartoon filled with moral lessons and I think in today's society we could use more of that.

Now that it has been made into a movie, I just can't wait to see how it turns out. Rumors are going around that the movie will be made into a trilogy, which I think is a good call since you can't squeeze 3 seasons worth of stories in just a 2 and a half hour movie. The movie is set for release on July 2010 in the US, I don't know when it is showing here in the Philippines, but I am guessing it's around that time too. I can't wait to see it. I am a bit skeptical with the cast though, I feel that some of the actors chosen to play a certain part doesn't quite fit. Like for example, the actor chosen to play Prince Zuko is Dev Patel who was seen on Slumdog Millionaire. I am sure he's a good actor and all that, but I just can't see him as Zuko, and I love that character. I read in one article that the role was supposedly offered to Jesse McCartney but then he turned it down because of conflicts in his schedule. I felt disappointed, I thought he would've made a great Prince Zuko, he even kinda looks like Zuko.

He can so definitely pull off a Zuko, don't you think?

What say you? Who do you think would pull off Prince Zuko's character?

To me, Dev Patel can't be Zuko, I just don't see it, but that's just me, maybe he'll pull it off, let's wait and see.

Casting a virtually unknown kid as Aang was a smart decision, that way, we associate the character with the actor and not the other way around, get it? Like after this movie, Noah Ringer would be known as the kid who played Aang. However, I don't see Noah Ringer as Aang yet. I mean, he has the clothes, the staff and he even has Aang's tattoos, but I can't see him as Aang yet. Aang has this angelic, friendly and goofy face, and I don't know about you, but Noah Ringer looks fierce, not at all how I imagined Aang would look like.

I don't know about you, but Lucas makes a good Aang too.

I can totally see Jackson Rathbone as Sokka, and I know he'd rock that role. I love Sokka because he's goofy and funny and at the same time he can be serious. I have no doubt that Jackson Rathbone will be able to pull it off, although some people might still associate him with his character in the Twilight Saga, Jasper Hale, Sokka is totally different from Jasper Hale. I can't wait for him to give life to Sokka in the big screen.

Katara will be played by Nicola Peltz. She was last seen in the movie Deck the Halls and was in Miley Cyrus' music video for 7 Things. She kinda looks like Katara, so I can't wait to see how she portrays the character.

As for the other characters, I found out that Toph, Azula, Mai and Ty Lee aren't in the movie, so it's safe to say that it might be a trilogy. I am hoping for a trilogy because I want to see who plays Toph and Azula especially.

The cartoon series has 3 Books or seasons. Book 1 is Water, Book 2 is Earth and Book 3 is Fire. There are 4 elements, water, earth, fire and air. There are rumors circulating on the web that a 4th book, Book 4: Air is in the works but no confirmations have been made. I would love for it to have another season because the ending to Book 3: Fire left a lot of questions that still needed some answers, like whatever happened to Azula? Did Aang take away her bending too? Was Zuko able to find his mother? And what happens to Aang and Katara? So, did Sokka marry Suki? So many questions, it definitely calls for another season.
