Twilight by Stephenie Meyer**

This is kinda a review, but not really. I just want to rant about the book.sengihnampakgigi

I am a bookworm.nerd I have always been one, and I have read countless books, but none of the romance novels I've read compares to the Twilight Series. Not even The Notebook, or Romeo and Juliet. This is the only book I read with a smile permanently fixed on my face, it was weird. This book made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, even through the bad parts, I still felt the love. It's definitely one of a kind and I love love love it!love I read Twilight in 2 days. I would've finished earlier but I had to stop reading because I had to catch up on my chores. But if I had a choice I wouldn't have put it down. It's that good.sengihnampakgigi

WARNING: PLEASE DON'T READ ANY FURTHER UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE BOOK. SPOILER ALERT!!!

I have heard people talking about this book and how they loved it so much. I was like, bleh. I remember thinking that people who said it was beyond good was probably exaggerating. When I saw it on a shelf in the bookstore, I didn't even give it a second look. I didn't even know what it was about, all I knew about it was that it was a love story. If I knew that it was about vampires, I would've read it sooner. I have a fascination with vampires and I think I have probably read all the books ever published about vampires. Not because I want to be one, but because I find them to be fascinating creatures. I don't think they are really evil to begin with, although there are exceptions of course. I loved Angel played by David Boreanazlove, and the idea that a vampire has a soul and is good is what I like to believe.

I just love Stephenie Meyer's idea about vampires. Especially the part where they can't be seen out in the sun because they glitter like a shiny piece of diamond, contrary to what has been said about vampires since forever that they turn to dust when exposed to sunlight, I like her idea better. I also like the idea that they don't sleep, it's certainly better than picturing a drop dead gorgeous hunk sleeping in a coffin, don't you think? And I think her idea of how to kill a vampire is better than just a freakin sharp stick to the heart, I mean come on, you honestly think a stake to the heart is what it takes to kill a vampire as strong as Hercules? Stephenie Meyer's idea of cutting them up into pieces and burning them was a more acceptable theory of how to kill them, kind of morbid, but believable. Although there are a few details that she didn't change, like vampires being unbelievable gorgeous and immortal, I think that's a given, they wouldn't be vampires if that fact were to change. I just love these books!love I swear, if Stephenie Meyer had a band, I'd be like one of her groupies. LOL gelakguling

Anyway, on to the book. I love Bella Swan.love I love Edward Cullen.love I love The Cullens. loveI love EVERYBODY.love I even love James and Victoria.love I fell in love with Edward in the cafeteria as soon as Jessica said he was Edward Cullen.love I fell in love with how they were immediately attracted to one another even though they didn't realize it at first.love I love how their love seemed so pure and real and definitely something.love It reminded me of how in-love I am of my husband and made me appreciate the love we have.love This is the kind of book I would want my children to read too, because it is a classic example of love conquers all kind of thing, it showed how love is patient, kind and all that jazz.love

This is one of my favorite parts in the book: It's the one where Bella first saw the Cullens
It was there, sitting in the lunchroom, trying to make conversation with
seven curious strangers, that I first saw them.
They were sitting in the corner of the cafeteria, as far away from where
I sat as possible in the long room. There were five of them. They
weren't talking, and they weren't eating, though they each had a tray of
untouched food in front of them. They weren't gawking at me, unlike
most of the other students, so it was safe to stare at them without fear
of meeting an excessively interested pair of eyes. But it was none of
these things that caught, and held, my attention.
They didn't look anything alike. Of the three boys, one was big —
muscled like a serious weight lifter, with dark, curly hair. Another was
taller, leaner, but still muscular, and honey blond. The last was lanky,
less bulky, with untidy, bronze-colored hair. He was more boyish than
the others, who looked like they could be in college, or even teachers
here rather than students.
The girls were opposites. The tall one was statuesque. She had a
beautiful figure, the kind you saw on the cover of the Sports Illustrated
swimsuit issue, the kind that made every girl around her take a hit on
her self-esteem just by being in the same room. Her hair was golden,
gently waving to the middle of her back. The short girl was pixielike,
thin in the extreme, with small features. Her hair was a deep black,
cropped short and pointing in every direction.
And yet, they were all exactly alike. Every one of them was chalky pale,
the palest of all the students living in this sunless town. Paler than me,
the albino. They all had very dark eyes despite the range in hair tones.
They also had dark shadows under those eyes — purplish, bruiselike
shadows. As if they were all suffering from a sleepless night, or almost
done recovering from a broken nose. Though their noses, all their
features, were straight, perfect, angular.
But all this is not why I couldn't look away.
I stared because their faces, so different, so similar, were all
devastatingly, inhumanly beautiful. They were faces you never expected
to see except perhaps on the airbrushed pages of a fashion magazine.
Or painted by an old master as the face of an angel. It was hard to
decide who was the most beautiful — maybe the perfect blond girl, or
the bronze-haired boy.
They were all looking away — away from each other, away from the
other students, away from anything in particular as far as I could tell. As
I watched, the small girl rose with her tray — unopened soda, unbitten
apple — and walked away with a quick, graceful lope that belonged on a
runway. I watched, amazed at her lithe dancer's step, till she dumped
her tray and glided through the back door, faster than I would have
thought possible. My eyes darted back to the others, who sat
unchanging.
"Who are they?" I asked the girl from my Spanish class, whose name I'd
forgotten.
As she looked up to see who I meant — though already knowing,
probably, from my tone — suddenly he looked at her, the thinner one,
the boyish one, the youngest, perhaps. He looked at my neighbor for
just a fraction of a second, and then his dark eyes flickered to mine.
He looked away quickly, more quickly than I could, though in a flush of
embarrassment I dropped my eyes at once. In that brief flash of a
glance, his face held nothing of interest — it was as if she had called his
name, and he'd looked up in involuntary response, already having
decided not to answer.
My neighbor giggled in embarrassment, looking at the table like I did.
"That's Edward and Emmett Cullen, and Rosalie and Jasper Hale. The
one who left was Alice Cullen; they all live together with Dr. Cullen and
his wife." She said this under her breath.
I glanced sideways at the beautiful boy, who was looking at his tray
now, picking a bagel to pieces with long, pale fingers. His mouth was
moving very quickly, his perfect lips barely opening. The other three still
looked away, and yet I felt he was speaking quietly to them.
Strange, unpopular names, I thought.
And here's another one:
Three things seemed to happen simultaneously while Carlisle was
speaking. My hair ruffled with the light breeze, Edward stiffened, and
the second male, James, suddenly whipped his head around, scrutinizing
me, his nostrils flaring.
A swift rigidity fell on all of them as James lurched one step forward into
a crouch. Edward bared his teeth, crouching in defense, a feral snarl
ripping from his throat.
It was nothing like the playful sounds I'd heard from him this morning;
it was the single most menacing thing I had ever heard, and chills ran
from the crown of my head to the back of my heels.
"What's this?" Laurent exclaimed in open surprise. Neither James nor
Edward relaxed their aggressive poses. James feinted slightly to the
side, and Edward shifted in response.
"She's with us." Carlisle's firm rebuff was directed toward James.
Laurent seemed to catch my scent less powerfully than James, but
awareness now dawned on his face.
"You brought a snack?" he asked, his expression incredulous as he took
an involuntary step forward.
Edward snarled even more ferociously, harshly, his lip curling high
above his glistening, bared teeth. Laurent stepped back again.
"I said she's with us," Carlisle corrected in a hard voice.
"But she's human," Laurent protested. The words were not at all
aggressive, merely astounded.
And here's the best part: For me, at least.
I knew he thought it was mere embarrassment holding me back. "I
think it will make you mad — or sad."
His brows pulled together over his eyes as he thought that through. "I
still want to know. Please?"
I sighed. He waited.
"Well… I assumed it was some kind of… occasion. But I didn't think it
would be some trite human thing… prom!" I scoffed.
"Human?" he asked flatly. He'd picked up on the key word.
I looked down at my dress, fidgeting with a stray piece of chiffon. He
waited in silence.
"Okay," I confessed in a rush. "So I was hoping that you might have
changed your mind… that you were going to change me, after all."
A dozen emotions played across his face. Some I recognized: anger…
pain… and then he seemed to collect himself and his expression became
amused.
"You thought that would be a black tie occasion, did you?" he teased,
touching the lapel of his tuxedo jacket.
I scowled to hide my embarrassment. "I don't know how these things
work. To me, at least, it seems more rational than prom does." He was
still grinning. "It's not funny," I said.
"No, you're right, it's not," he agreed, his smile fading. "I'd rather treat
it like a joke, though, than believe you're serious."
"But I am serious."
He sighed deeply. "I know. And you're really that willing?"
The pain was back in his eyes. I bit my lip and nodded.
"So ready for this to be the end," he murmured, almost to himself, "for
this to be the twilight of your life, though your life has barely started.
You're ready to give up everything."
"It's not the end, it's the beginning," I disagreed under my breath.
"I'm not worth it," he said sadly.
"Do you remember when you told me that I didn't see myself very
clearly?" I asked, raising my eyebrows. "You obviously have the same
blindness."
"I know what I am."
I sighed.
But his mercurial mood shifted on me. He pursed his lips, and his eyes
were probing. He examined my face for a long moment.
"You're ready now, then?" he asked.
"Um." I gulped. "Yes?"
He smiled, and inclined his head slowly until his cold lips brushed
against the skin just under the corner of my jaw.
"Right now?" he whispered, his breath blowing cool on my neck. I
shivered involuntarily.
"Yes," I whispered, so my voice wouldn't have a chance to break. If he
thought I was bluffing, he was going to be disappointed. I'd already
made this decision, and I was sure. It didn't matter that my body was
rigid as a plank, my hands balled into fists, my breathing erratic…
He chuckled darkly, and leaned away. His face did look disappointed.
"You can't really believe that I would give in so easily," he said with a
sour edge to his mocking tone.
"A girl can dream."
His eyebrows rose. "Is that what you dream about? Being a monster?"
"Not exactly," I said, frowning at his word choice. Monster, indeed.
"Mostly I dream about being with you forever."
His expression changed, softened and saddened by the subtle ache in
my voice.
"Bella." His fingers lightly traced the shape of my lips. "I will stay with
you — isn't that enough?"
I smiled under his fingertips. "Enough for now."
He frowned at my tenacity. No one was going to surrender tonight. He
exhaled, and the sound was practically a growl.
I touched his face. "Look," I said. "I love you more than everything else
in the world combined. Isn't that enough?"
"Yes, it is enough," he answered, smiling. "Enough for forever."
And he leaned down to press his cold lips once more to my throat.
The ending left me craving for more, it's a good thing I have all four E-Books on hand, or else I would've had countless sleepless nights just waiting for it. I feel bad that I didn't buy the books when I saw them in the bookstore, because it's hard to get a hold of these books nowadays, you have to be on a waiting list, but in a way I'm glad I didn't buy them then, because now I can buy the better versions of the books, complete with pictures and stuff from the movie.sengihnampakgigi

I feel different about the movie, but that's another post for another day.sengihnampakgigi

You're welcome Shemah! I looked online for the books, because there is no
way I can get them locally, and they cost $40.. the whole set, hard cover..
but for normal delivery it'll take 4-6 weeks, if I expedite shipping I'll
have to add $40 so, all in all about $90 plus taxes and I get them in 2-4
days.. Quite tempting, so I wish I get opps this month so I can buy them
asap! :)

Local book stores are selling them in sets, in this cool box thingy. A set should cost about RM180? Not so sure, though but they're paperbacks, not hard cover.
